At White Meadows we operate a house reward system. We believe this encourages a strong feeling of belonging, builds resilience through healthy competition and enhances the children’s enjoyment and learning at school through various inter-house activities during the school year.
Children are assigned a house when they join the school and siblings are always in the same house.
The houses are:
- Eartham (Green)
- Highdown (Red)
- Slindon (Blue)
- Tortingon (Yellow)
Each house has a captain and vice captain who are voted in by year 6 children.
Points are earned through good behaviour, fantastic work, incredible effort and following the school’s values. Year 5 children collect the weekly total from each class and the winners are announced in assembly, where the appropriate colour ribbon is tied to the house trophy and presented to the house captain and vice captain.
Every half term, the house with the most points is allowed to wear their house colours to school for one day in place of school uniform. Parents will be informed of the winner, the colour and the day.
