We will take a journey to South Africa in Autumn Term. In English, we will be developing our descriptive writing skills, using the book ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne as our inspiration. We will discover lots of new and interesting facts about the continent of Africa including the different animals that live in, the climate, geographical features and the culture.
Then, we will take a step back in time to The Victorian Era. We will spend time exploring what it would have been like to live as a child in the Victorian times as well as researching about Queen Victoria. The children will learn about what school were like for the children and about the different jobs they would have had. Excitingly, the children will be invited to dress up as Victorian school child and live out a Victorian school day.
In Maths, the children will be re-establishing their understanding of place value as well as focusing on numbers up to and beyond 1000. After this, the children will then concentrate on developing their addition and subtraction methods.
We are luckily enough to start our year of science, looking at the environment around us, before studying Light and Shadows. The children will learn all about different light sources and about how shadows are formed.
In other curriculum areas, the children will secure their knowledge about colour and create their very own Maasi warrior Art as well as start their journey in learning French. The children will also spend time developing their understanding of how important it is to stay safe online and begin learning about the input and output of a computer system.
