A Typical Day in Our Nutmeg Room (For 2-Year-Olds)

Morning Welcome & Funky Fingers:
Children are greeted with engaging “funky finger” activities designed to support their fine motor development and get their day off to a creative start.
Circle Time & ‘Do Time’:
After singing our cheerful morning songs together, children enjoy ‘do time’—a chance to explore the room and all the exciting activities on offer, with adults always nearby to support, encourage, and join in the fun.
Snack Time:
Snack time is a special moment where everyone sits together to enjoy a healthy snack and some milk, building social skills and healthy habits.
Active Play & Phonics:
The morning continues with more ‘do time’ and then some lively dancing and singing during our phonics lesson, helping children develop language and physical skills.
Lunch & Rest:
At lunchtime, an adult sits at each table to support and encourage positive eating habits. After lunch, the room becomes calm and cosy for nap time, giving every child a chance to rest and recharge.
Toothbrushing & Afternoon Activities:
After their nap, children brush their teeth with the help of ‘Hey Duggee’s toothbrushing song’. The afternoon brings more opportunities for speech development and sharing through games like ‘What’s in the Bag’ or ‘Bucket Time’.
Finishing the Day:
Children are encouraged to finish any leftover lunch, then enjoy more singing and a story as we get ready for home time. At pick-up, parents receive a daily slip detailing their child’s nappy changes, sleep, and eating habits.

Apply for a space

If your child is turning 2, you can apply for them to have a space in our 2-year-old room. They can start with us the term after they turn 2, so please keep this in mind when selecting your start date on the application form.
