Why have a School Council?
At White Meadows Primary Academy, we feel that it is important that our children are able to express their ideas and have a voice on how the school is run. One way they are encouraged to do this is through the School Council.
What does the School Council do?
At the beginning of every school year, we run elections for new representatives from each class in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Children that are selected to join the School Council will represent the views of all the children in their class and will have responsibility for providing feedback on ideas, discussions and decisions from the School Council monthly meetings.
Mrs Hudson (School Council Leader) and Mrs Reid (Assistant Headteacher – Senior Leader Link) oversee the School Council and help guide and support representatives with discussions, planning activities, facilitating meetings and organising fund-raising activities for the school and our chosen Charities, which are the Littlehampton RNLI, St. Barnabas and Chestnut Tree House.
Every representative gets a chance to speak at the meetings and when we have finished, we vote on the best ideas and then start to implement them.
