Our Acorn & Conker Room is a nurturing, stimulating space where your child’s confidence, independence, and love of learning can blossom!

A Typical Day in Our Acorn & Conker Room (For 3-Year-Olds+)

Morning Welcome & Funky Fingers:
Children are welcomed into the nursery and start their day with “funky finger” activities to boost fine motor skills. Each child self-registers by placing their name on our special tree, building independence and a sense of belonging.
Circle Time:
We gather together to sing about the weather, the day of the week, and talk about what’s happening now and next, helping children understand routines and develop language skills.
‘Do Time’ Exploration:
Children enjoy ‘do time’, exploring the nursery and the day’s exciting activities. Our caring adults support, model, and scaffold learning, always promoting our key words and encouraging curiosity.
Open Snack Station:
Snack time is flexible—children can visit the snack station when they feel hungry, choosing a healthy snack and some milk with adult support.
Songs & Movement:
We sing nursery songs from our song sack, with plenty of actions and movement to keep everyone engaged and active.
Phonics & Pre-Phonics:
Children take part in Read Write Inc. phonics sessions (or pre-phonics, as appropriate), supporting their language and early literacy development.
Physical Activity & Lunch:
Before lunch, we get moving with physical activities and practice good hygiene by washing our hands. Lunch is enjoyed in the nursery, with adults supporting and encouraging positive eating habits.
Keyworker Group Time:
After some play, children join their keyworker groups for special activities like story time, bucket time, or playdough disco—tailored to support each child’s next steps.
Afternoon ‘Do Time’ & Wind Down:
There’s more ‘do time’ in the afternoon, giving children another chance to explore and learn. Before home time, everyone brushes their teeth, enjoys a final story, and sings our goodbye song.

Apply for a space

If your child is turning 3, you can apply for them to have a space in our 3-year-old room. They can start with us the term after they turn 3, so please keep this in mind when selecting your start date on the application form.

For the academic year 2025-2026, you can expect to hear from us by the following dates if your child has got a space in our class. Please also note the cut off dates of when to apply by:
